How this works

We check reference data every 5 minutes and sign-in every 30 minutes, reusing access tokens, with no retries, so we put as little load on DEFRA as possible. Receipt filing status uses the outcomes of real filings from Nexus Waste: counts only, with no customer data. We judge filing from real filings because testing that endpoint would create records.

Green means no problem has been seen in our checks or in real filings. Amber means a failed filing, two failed checks in a row, or slow responses. Red means two failed filings in a row, or three failed checks in a row. Everything here describes the service as seen from Nexus Waste's systems, so green means no problem seen, not that DEFRA has confirmed anything.

"No data" is shown for the days before our monitoring began. "Not monitored" means a check is switched off. Neither means that DEFRA is working normally.

Availability covers the selected period. Typical response shows the 95th percentile response time: 95% of measured responses were at least this fast. Missing measurements are omitted.

Nexus Waste is listed by DEFRA on GOV.UK as compatible software.

Nexus Waste is independent software. It is not provided by, or endorsed by, DEFRA or the Environment Agency.
